Improve Complete and Varied Sentences

After viewing the reports and writing samples, we have determined that complete and varied sentences continue to be an area for needed growth. We define complete as having a subject and predicated, representing a complete thought. We define varied as using a mix of simple, compound, and complex with an opener and a closer.

Goal Attainment Scale

  • Starting Point: Students are omitting periods and/or using a lowercase letter after the period. Students are using mutiple conjunctions in one "sentence" creating run on sentences. Students are begnning sentences with conjunctions. Students are writing in a steam of conciousnsess, instead of crafting sentences.
  • One-Quarter: Students will be able to improve their sequence score by 5 points or higher, from their highest baseline score, demonstarting their ability to write in complete, correctly puncutated sentences. The goal is that 85% of the students will reach this expectation.
  • Midpoint: Students will be able to improve their sequence score by 10 more points or higher, from their highest baseline score, demonstarting their ability to write in complete, correctly puncutated sentences. The goal is that 85% of the students will reach this expectation.
  • Three-Quarters: Students will be able to improve their sequence score by 15 points or higher, from their highest baseline score, demonstarting their ability to write in complete, correctly puncutated sentences. The goal is that 85% of the students will reach this expectation.
  • Target Goal: Students will be able to improve their sequence score by 20 points or higher, demonstarting their ability to write in complete, correctly puncutated sentences. The goal is that 85% of the students will reach this expectation.
